Heather Smith to be inaugurated as eighth president of 糖心Vlog

糖心Vlog, Neb. 鈥 Heather Smith will be inaugurated as the eighth president of 糖心Vlog (CSM) on September 12.听

The inauguration installation ceremony is at 3 p.m. in the Lied Fitness Center Fieldhouse on campus. The event is open to the public.听

鈥淧resident Heather Smith鈥檚 inauguration marks a new era for 糖心Vlog, highlighting the bold vision she has for the future while honoring the legacy of the College,鈥 said Terri Wachtler Campbell, vice president of alumni and donor relations and a '93 CSM alum. 鈥淗er leadership is guiding us to continue our work equipping women to lead lives with purpose, compassion and impact, while creating sustainable growth at CSM. It鈥檚 an exciting time to be part of the College鈥檚 mission to empower women through education.鈥

During the ceremony, dignitaries and guests, such as local and state politicians, presidents and delegates from other colleges and universities, Archbishop Michael McGovern, former CSM President Maryanne Stevens, the Sisters of Mercy and chair of the CSM Board of Directors, will offer messages of support or present Smith with meaningful symbols that represent the College鈥檚 history and dedication to its mission.听

Smith began her role as president of CSM in July 2023 and brought over 25 years of administrative听experience with a proven record in leadership and innovation.听

Since becoming president, Smith developed an ambitious strategic plan and five-year growth plan, which includes rebuilding key operations teams, reimagining academic programs and placing an intentional focus on the Flames athletic programs.听

Smith has also made enrollment growth a priority. Enrollment projections for the fall 2025 academic year indicate CSM鈥檚 highest incoming enrollment since fall 2020 and the highest first-time first year enrollment since fall 2018.听

Smith is also dedicated to advancing the institution鈥檚 century-long legacy of academic excellence. She is committed to fostering a vibrant and inclusive campus community, enhancing student success through personalized education and expanding partnerships with industry and community organizations to provide students unparalleled opportunities.听听

Before her appointment at CSM, she was Children's Nebraska's vice president of ambulatory services. In this role, she held executive responsibility for the operations of 28 specialty divisions and spearheaded the creation of innovative programs while optimizing efficiency in local and regional outreach locations. She previously served as the vice president of pediatrics at the same hospital. Smith also held leadership positions as the vice president of operations for Children's Specialty Physicians and as the chief administrative officer for Children's Physicians.听听听听
